Tropical Storm JANGMI (SENIANG) has emerged over Bohol Sea and is now passing very close to Camiguin Island...expected to make another landfall over Southern Negros early tomorrow morning between 1 to 3 AM. Stormy weather will continue to prevail across Northern Mindanao and the Visayas through the evening.

This cyclone will continue to enhance the Northeast Monsoon (Hanging Amihan) - bringing cooler, windy and mostly cloudy conditions with occasional slight to moderate rains along the northern and eastern sections of Luzon including the Bicol Region
.


Residents and visitors along Visayas, Mindanao and Palawan. should closely monitor the development of Jangmi (Seniang).

RAINFALL

  • Heavy to Extreme Rains (100 mm or more): Portions of Eastern and Western Samar, Most parts of Leyte, Southern Leyte, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, Negros Oriental, Northern and Central Negros Occidental, Eastern Misamis Oriental, Caraga, Camiguin, Dinagat and Siargao Islands - tonight through Tuesday morning (Dec 30).
  • Heavy Rains (50 mm to 100 mm): Rest of Samar Provinces, Rest of the Visayas, Northern portions of Zamboanga Peninsula, Misamis Occidental, some portions of Lanao Provinces, Bukidnon, and the Northern part of Davao Region - tonight through Tuesday morning (Dec 30).
  • Moderate to Heavy Rains (30 mm to 50 mm): Eastern and Southern Bicol including Masbate-Burias-Ticao Islands, Boracay, Northernmost Antique, Western Aklan, Most parts of Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Maguindanao, Cotabato and the Rest of Davao Region including Davao and Samal Island - tonight through Tuesday morning (Dec 30).
WINDS
  • Tropical Storm Force Winds (Gusts of not more than 85 kph): Northern Caraga, Eastern Misamis Oriental including Camiguin Island, Dinagat and Siargao Islands, Southern Leyte and Bohol - tonight.

2-DAY FORECAST OUTLOOK*

TS Jangmi (Seniang) is expected to move westward during the next 24 hours and will bend slightly west-southwest slowly throughout the forecast outlook. On the forecast track, TS Jangmi (Seniang) will pass very close to the southern shores of Bohol and Cebu tonight, and shall traverse Southern Negros by early Tuesday morning. The storm shall be over Sulu Sea on Tuesday afternoon...and shall be approaching Southern Palawan on Wednesday afternoon.

TS Jangmi (Seniang) is expected to maintain its strength throughout the forecast period. Advance Intensity Forecast (AIF) shows its 10-minute maximum sustained winds remaining at 65 kph by Wednesday afternoon.

The following is the 3-day forecast outlook summary for this system:

TUESDAY AFTERNOON: Over Sulu Sea after crossing Southern Negros...turns to the west-southwest...about 130 km west of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental [2PM DEC 30: 9.3N 122.1E @ 65kph].
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON: Maintains its strength as it moves across the western part of Sulu Sea, approaching the eastern shores of Southern Palawan...about 100 km south-southeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan [2PM DEC 31: 8.9N 119.1E @ 65kph].
THURSDAY AFTERNOON: Moving across the West Philippine Sea, after crossing Southern Palawan...about 220 km west of Bataraza, Palawan [2PM JAN 01: 8.7N 115.6E @ 65kph].
