  • GONI (JOLINA) has been upgraded to a Tropical Storm as it moves slowly closer to Southern China.

    *Residents and visitors along Southern China should closely monitor the progress of GONI (JOLINA).

    *Kindly refer to your local warnings & bulletins issued by your country's official weather agency. This advisory is intended for additional information purposes only.


    + Forecast Outlook: GONI is expected to slightly intensify before making landfall over Guangdong Province early tomorrow morning. The system shall rapidly dissipate late tomorrow until Thursday.

    + Effects: GONI's circulation becoming better organized while over the South China Sea. Rainfall accumulations of up to 200-300 mm can be expected within its circulation. Its western rain bands is now affecting the coastal areas of Guangdong Province and Hainan Island.

    CIRCULATION CENTER (LLCC) IS PARTIALLY EXPOSED BUT CONVECTION IS
    BEGINNING TO WRAP INTO THE SOUTHEASTERN QUADRANT FROM THE SOUTHERN
    HALF AS THE VERTICAL WIND SHEAR HAS RELAXED. EQUATORWARD OUTFLOW
    CONTINUES TO EXPAND AS CONVECTION HAS ORGANIZED SOMEWHAT IN THE PAST
    SIX HOURS. FURTHER INTENSIFICATION WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO THE
    SYSTEMS CLOSE PROXIMITY TO MAINLAND CHINA. LANDFALL IS EXPECTED
    SHORTLY AFTER TAU 24, BETWEEN HONG KONG AND HAINAN ISLAND...
